Hi Guys,
I am currently working on a project in the middle east so finding a nikon service center is a bit difficult. I have my D70 with me and when I tried taking some shots, the focus indicator lights up (which means that I have a focus) but the camera will NOT fire up to take the shot. I even tried setting to manual but I keep on getting the "r09" in lower right portion of my D70 control panel display but still the camera won't take the shot. So far I have changed battery, change to a different lens but still the problem persist. Pressing the shutter half-press will focus the subject but when pressed all the way, the camera does not take the shot!!! Anyone for CS experienced the same problem and what would be the solution. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. |

check the AE-L/AF-L settings of your cam. "r09" i think is the buffer size of shots. if you change the settings to JPEG basic the no will increase....so "r09" is not an error code.

believe me guys, if focus is the problem... i already turned it Manual focus so it should have taken the shots otherwise.... this is not an issue of focus as I mentioned earlier.
the problem is quite unusual, i tried removing the CF and set the menu settings to fire even without the CF card and guess what, the shutter worked and have taken the shot but obcourse the photo is not stored in the CF card. I tried it in both AF-S and AF-C without the CF and worked fine. so now, the problem is when the CF was inserted back... which I tried my both CF (Sandisk II 512mb and 1GB Lexar 80x) but both the same problem. Anyone else expericence the same thing, pls help. thanks |

Have you tried resetting the camera ? There's a menu option for that.

thanks for the reply, i tried that earlier but still have the same problem. i even tried formatting both CF using the camera, change lens and battery. I guess this is really a valid problem that requires servicing but the problem is I am in the middle east right now for a project and was hoping to capture some memories with me but my D70 is not cooperating . I am not sure if there is a nikon service center in Dubai which is my only hope. any other suggestions? cheers, Kelvin |

Then off to the service center, don't think you have any other choice.
