Default Fake Sony Batt/Charger seen

Fake Sony Batt/Charger (see here for pics to compare)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently I ordered a NP-FP71 batt and a BC-TRP charger costing around USD60, as the ebay seller claim its real and photo shows a Sony packaging. So I order and arrive 5 days after (Frm HK-Singapore)

Upon receiving it, I have the feeling someone is wrong. Any old timer Sony users will know the quality in their packaging. The one I received have printing alignment slightly off, and the color isnt as bright. Anyway I tell myself.. "if it works then at least its better then those unbranded 3rd parties"

So took it home, and did a test on the NP-FP71 batt on the HC42 since I read a lot about hving lousy batt life on 3rd parties. I leave it on and see how long it last.. to make it a fair and lazy test, I just leave it on "tape mode" and zooming it every 3 mins so it won't auto shut off. I found one problem: The batt remainder time does not update that accurately unless u switch mode (no really a problem eventually when i found out the original FP50 batt does the same).. this FP71 perform quite alright.. anyway i need to use it more frequently to tell on a more accurate basis.

The charger, well its hard to tell how it performs.. but it sure working so far.

Below are some photos, anyone can judge if its real or fake??

(btw the packing have a sony hologram stickers)

The smaller (FP50) is original for sure.. the larger(FP71) is the one i think is fake

Any BC-TRP can tell if this is fake???

Eh..
I dunno where u get ur conclusion that all sony packaging are highclass.

You know, many manufacturers don't make their goods equal. Those in less wealthy countries get lousier stuff/cheaper made stuff, while those countries which can afford top grade stuff gets the good stuff.

Singapore and China are in different tiers. At least, they were. Goodness knows if it's been updated to reflect the current situation of Shanghai and Beijing just as wealthy if not wealthier as/than Singapore.

Old timer sony user? Dunno, feels like you're a brand snob to me.
Judging the book by its cover?
In this case, judging the battery by its box?

Of course, nowadays fakes are getting to be as good if not better than originals. Ever heard of LV bags? I heard of someone who got a fake LV bag from thailand, went France, and the bag strap broke in the airport. The customs police officer kind heartedly help send the bag to the LV factory. After a while LV sent a brand new bag over, together with an personalized apology letter for their product giving way while in use. not even LV's very own factory could distinguish a fake from a real one. It's all in the name dude..

actually, i dont know why u are mentioning so much about sony packaging.. i was just using that as one of the reason why i believe its fake. fyi, sony made all their batt. from japan so in many way, the one u buy in here or hk or china or anywhere else in the world would be the same... thats why their packinging hv all sort of language. Therefore, u would not expect any differences in their packaging. And pls dont tell me about the LV bag and fake fashion thingy, i was working in HK for a fashion house for 5 yrs.. i even tag along with custom officer to bust shops selling fake stuff, i know all the tricks and on-going in china fakes.

more importantly, i posted this to warn anyone plan to buy if off ebay, that u r not getting the real stuff but rather a 3rd party who is using sony brand without permission.

and lastly, 'judging the battery by its box'?? well, i just got the email from the seller... he already told me the stuff he sold is fake and apologized, also offered me a full refund... but since the batt and charger is working well so i might just keep it rather then spending $7-8 to sent it back.

The NP-FP71 from the looks of it doesn't seemed fake, maybe either the batt is faulty or due to worned out charging over a long time usage from previous owner.

thailand dude... Their stuff are as good as real. Next time have a trip there and ask to look at the Grade AAA goods.

My friend's got a bag from thailand which staff in the LV shop can't tell if it's real or fake. I'm not kidding about it. Neither am i kidding about the someone above. It's my uncle's good friend, and that's the story I heard from him.
Fakes are really good now. I've got a artificial diamond (cheap) which 5 10+ year onwards experienced jewellers can't differentiate if real or not. In fact, I heard they are so good that it takes a $100k machine to analyse the chemical structure to determine which is fake and which is real.

Yeah, it's on sale in singapore legally, as artifical diamond. Got every diamond's got their own cert too.

Anyway I'm not out to diss you, really. Peace out.
But it's the fact. Fakes are as good as real ones nowadays.

Dunno about the battery being all made in Japan. Now I know.
But I do know that many manufacturers do not do most of their stuff in one place. In fact, if i'm don't remember wrongly, many of Sony components are made overseas, then sent to japan to be assembled, so that it can have a made in Japan stamp. I wouldn't be surprised if the packaging was printed in China, Thailand or Malaysia.
Speaking of Malaysia, I believe Sony makes their batteries in Malaysia too.

Heh well as long as it works fine, then it's good ba. You should post the seller's nick here, then at least everyone can beware. He might be apologizing to everyone that he sold the set to, but no one wanna spend extra $8 to send it back and have nothing for it. That's considered a scam of some sort..

unseen: yes i know, the fake in fashion industry is so good, that its actually the original stuff. Why? there's once i went to see a factory that was taking the material from the original factory (the original factory sold it out as they also oem for the brand).. then they go use the exact same raw material and manufacture it.

OK.. when it comes to fashion labels, i will say definitely its as good as the original (with the exception of a few where no one can copy the same yet). BUT with electronic items, i think many times fake might not perform as good.. esp those who bother so much to cheat buyers with printing the package as close as the original. (Those batt. with lousy packaging i believe can perform as good/better then original-personal opinion here)

actually with the price paid, its still worth it.. SGD105 for a charger and a NP-FP71 batt.(which in spore already cost $240)

however, just did a overnight charge on the battery and found that the charge only give me 220mins, rather then 250-290mins.. therefore i suspect its just a NP-FP70 (ie the lower capacity version). .. but for $50, cant complain la.

Glad you're happy. I'd be happy with the same set that u got..
hee for $99 you can get 440 min already..
For me, that's my mindset.

hee anyway 3rd party.. my Eastgear battery did last me twice (600+ shots with flash) as long as my panasonic original (250-300 with flash) at 1/3 of the price.

But those that cheat.. yeah I'd think those shld be the sucky ones..
