Just read the review on the FZ30 and I'm really perplexed by many of the responses from dpreview's forum
. Many seems to condemned it simply because of its noise problem. Not to say that the FZ30 has no noise problem, but I just wonder how many of them actually print out the photo and see if the noise problem is really as serious as they think it to be... ![]() Frankly, as a current DSLR user, I've printed some of the FZ30 samples, some even up to 8R, and I don't think its a serious problem unless it is ISO200 and above. But of course, noise acceptance is quite a subjective thing... |

Wow... This camera seem to score 100/100 for noise level... wahahaaa... Totemo Urusai Dayo...
But it still seem to perform better than A200 in terms of detail level. |

ayo...no improvement at all as compared to FZ20. No point to upgrade. I guess for those FZ20, you might want to consider DSLR like KM5D, D50 for your upgrading.
my current FZ20 problem, I can't go up to ISO400. coz too much noise. With DSLR, can go up to 1600 and it's a lot less noise than FZ20's ISO400. I am looking forward for SITEX 2005 to buy a DSLR. Really cannot tahan the noise.

LOL really cannot tahan noise?
KM5d and D50 is not for you. Nikon cameras and KM cameras are not good with noise control. You'll be surprised at how bad 1600 is. maybe can fight with ISO 200 to ISO400 of FZ20. Haf a look at canon 350D.. The noise control is so so good. I'll say that the ISO1600 can fight with FZ5's ISO100 to 200 From a guy who used FZ3, FZ5, FZ20, D100, D70, D70s, 350D, 20D for a period of time. That's what i feel and see. I don't have my FZ 5 anymore. Perhaps at a plug we can set up a test.
here you go with some ISO1600 full crops, taken in my room under fluorescent light, auto whitebalance, hand held. You can make a pretty good judge of noise already. My 350D Resized image: ![]() Cutout 1: ![]() Cutout 2: ![]() |

Different cameras got different pros and cons. Best to do your own research for your own needs.
For me, budget, Noise and Image colour/photo quality is tops. Those fields, 350 fits the budget, Noise performance is = to 20D = tops, colour/dynamic range lose out only to S3pro/s2pro. and I DEFINITELY do not want noisy photos which are flat out of the camera (D70/D70s without custom curve). I also do not want the need to post process 100% of the photos so that they look presentable. After all, I'm not a pro where I take 30 frames per assignment, gets paid $100/hour, and I just need to process that 30 frames. I'm a bloody beginner who can be taking 100-400 photos at a outing. Build/feel etc doesn't matter to me. I'm more worried about that the $2500 I spent can't get me the benefits/improvements in photo-taking/photos that I want. Size of 350D is no issue i don't use my 2nd finger to grip the camera, and unlike some pple, I grip the camera straight. Some pple slant their hands/fingers slant so badly that they'll definitely find the handgrip insufficient. I didn't want to point out, but it's basically just bad camera holding posture. Anyway i think like every other prosumer camera, best to consider what you need in a dSLR. |
