Sounds stupid, but, how much approx. is the market price of a lens hood for a Nikon lens. Sorry, newbie to this. Just want to get rid of the lens flare.

Thanks.

According to wat i know, the recommended hood is the HB-33. I dun think it will cost $50. Since you have already checked with CP, you may wanna call up TKPhoto or MS Color to check the price and whether there are alternatives.

Think shouldn't cost more than $30 for the hood..
Was quoted $20 for the AFS 80-200mm hood HB-17 at CP.

Usually the Nikon lens hoods are not that expensive, but always no stocks one.
Sometimes I pay more just to get it from overseas or 2nd hand market!

Was told that if the lens stop production, harder to get the hood, even from JP.
If really no chance of getting the hood from Nikon, only way is from oversea
oe 2nd hand market.
Do try out ebay too, but price also quite ex sometime..

Thanks.
How can I resist this (yeah I know benjaminteo specified the exact lens but WTH ...)

Cost varies, from 10-15 bucks to over 800 SGD for some of the superteles.

CP is always like that. They like to give price higher. Try AP or MS.

Do lens hood come in metal? Or do they come in plastic only? How much do you think a 52mm thread size would cost?

Woh... thats a whole lot of response in such a short time. Thanks for those that gave advices about the price.

And regarding the the availability of the "made for Nikon tulips", there is NOT a single lens hood for me at Cathay. Will be going to check out Alans for stock tomorrow, will update you guys then. Will definitely be looking out for HB 33- recommendation noted. But any D50 users with other alternatives?

Been to Beijing recently and realised the importance of a lens hood, as some of my photos are destroyed by lens flare. So, i decided, I need one. And quick. And will a lens hood will affect my indoor shots like funny shadows? etc.

SO, KEEP THE RESPONSES COMING IN! Thanks guys!
