Default Teleconverter rec

Hi fellow Nikon Kaki

I recently find a needs to add a teleconverter to my Nikon 200mm f4 Micro. It is a manual lens. My subject currently is lotus

Do you guys have any to rec?

Could I use 3rd party converter as those produced by Kenko or Sigma?..original nikon may be out of reach for me.

Thanks

If you want to get close enough, shouldn't you shorten your working distance with extention tubes instead?

That's the way to go. You should shorten your working distance.

Point taken....but in reality I have to swim to the lotus to get a close enuf shot with extension tube..hahaha...then my tripod have to be tall enuf to hold my cam above the water level...

I suppose that an extension tube will shorten the working distance....for eg I had the PK13 which when attached to the 50mm lens, working distance is only a few inches away from the subject....

My purpose of adding teleconverter is to have more flexibility in composing my shots with a comfortable working distance...

I use a Kenko Pro300 DG 1.4x with my 105 micro AFD. Gives me greater working distance, and full compatibility. I would use a longer tele with TC if I need even more reach.
