Wah! Could pay for 1/2 airfare to Melb and still get 7D body + 28-100mm + AUD$300 cashback + 10% GST .Is that quote body only or package? |

One retailer is offering a package with a 2nd lens (KM 75-300mm) and a camera bag for an extra $100 = AUD$1,599. |

Seems like the 5D is marketed as a new advancement over the 7D in OZ, with the rebate and all given for the 7D..........
I personally find that the 5D has more features than the 7D...... B&W photos, movie mode, ISO 80...... ![]() |

The 7D cashback promotion here is fairly muted. I think KM and the retailers do not want the cashback to overshadow the 5D release. I was fairly confident that I would get the 5D when I read the reviews but also because it was supposed to be more affordable than the 7D, but when I saw and tested both models, I disliked the 5D because of its dimunitive size. It's additional features weren't important to me (maybe except the ISO80). And with the 7D cashback offer ... well, the rest is history . |

Thanks APChoo for all the info. For me size and build is not a consideration, I will go for features. $ for for $, I think the 5D is one up over the 7D ......
I already have a big camera in the D70, a smaller camera like the 5D would be a nice change. Wow, with AS and all ....what more can a shutterbug ask for ....for now? ![]() |

Does D5D have movie mode? Why I don't know about it???
Seen Harvey Norman still showing the COMEX leaflet, so I ask them the offer on COMEX still stand for D5D? They reply yes, if they still got left over stock, not sure about whether still have to pay the $99 dollar for the extra zoom lens and CF card or not. They also selling 5600HS at $599, slightly more expensive.

Apchoo & Zenten, thanks for the wonderful sharing. Personally, I still prefer 7D for the size and solid feel, since I have a fairly large hands. Holding the 5D is pretty small and ergomically uneasy.
5D is definitely a good buy over 7D if not for its size. I still like big cameras. Anyway, I cant go over to OZ to get the 7D but any way of importing in? I guess some tax have to be incurred. Unless, 7D pricing is hitting down in Singapore. I still can wait for a good bargain. |

The best way is if you have an Aussie friend visiting S'pore ... get them to purchase a 7D within 30 days of their departure. They can send in the $300 redemption form and claim back the 10% GST on their way out of Oz. The only thing is the camera would be registered in their name in Oz ... not a problem, I supposed, as the KM Oz warranty is an international warranty certificate.

Thanks for the wonderful advices. However, its too much of a hassle.
Either somebody sells his (fathope deal) or I will have to settle for a new set in Singapore unless some kind souls willing to help. Overall, I still heard quite a lot of negative comments on 7D short comings over its good points. I know KM fans are die hard but looks like 7D is KM's flagship problem. Is 5D considered an improved version of 7D in terms of stability in technical aspects? Any comments from both of u? |
