Hey guys!
After contemplating for many months to get a dslr...finally got myself a d5d as well. Hope to learn more from the oldies in the minolta forum. Is there anyway to do a focus lock for the d5d? I understand that we can use the spot af button to lock the focus...but it goes off once u release the button? Anyway to lock and keep it there without holding onto the spot af button? Thanks thanks! |

do you mean..
1) lock a focus point to use? press <fn> select the AF point mode, should have center spot, 9 point and area focus. choose the 9 point mode. Area focus will allow camera to decide which point to use 2) lock a confirmed focus? just keep the shutter button half press and recompose. |

How about switching to Manual Focus after half press at AF. Does that work?

I not sure if there is another method, but for my case, I will mount the camera on tripod and switch to manual focus, and pre-focus first.. when the time is right, just press the shutter using cable. |

Whatever the way.... I think there isn't a camera where the focus of the lens can be held automatically by the body... I would love to have such a feature... like the AEL function I mean...
