Default Hoodman Grip for D70S

To all the D70S users out there:

I sent an email to Hoodman (the USA sellers of D70 grips similar to the Jenis ones) asking if they will be selling grips with half-press function for the D70S (using the remote shutter cord port). Their reply:

Our new HPG-D70s PowerGrip will have the 1/2 press / full press shutter release. The D70s has a remote shutter release port built into the camera to receive the signal of a normal shutter release. The D70 does not have the port, so our only means to communicate with the camera is through the infrared mode which does not accept 1/2 press full press signals.

I hope to be shipping the new grips for the D70s in late December.

Just a heads-up to those who are prepared to wait for it, but it sounds good to me! Hopefully Jenis/other brands will also be available in Singapore!

I'm not sure, but Hoodman is selling their current IR-based grip for about USD180, not including shipping. So expect to pay at least that amount if you're getting from them.

However, identical IR grips have been made available in CS consumers forum for about SGD150. That's significantly cheaper than the Hoodman grips. Hopefully the same can be done for the D70S grips!

will do...

i believe other CS members (such as ParkertR) who have sold the D70 IR grips before may have better info and contacts than me and hopefully they can update as and when too!
