Default EN-EL4 queries

A few questions on EN-EL4 (on D2X):

1) What's the max this battery can recharge?
2) What's the max number of shots (typical) you can squeeze out of this battery shooting only on NEF format, occasional chimping?
3) Where to get it cheapest (with available stock one, not those without stock but make empty quotes)? Most shops out of stock. This shop in Peninsula Plaza actually had the audacity to quote me $185!!! (List price is $180)

1) The battery info on the D2X will let u know the battery is beyond charging.
2) 850-2000 shots
3) I managed to find stock at CP, I took 4 pieces on friday, $180 ea, not sure if they have stock. Many places don't have any.

Thanks for the reply...

Actually my first question is more on what is the maximum re-charges for the EN-EL4. It's like Sanyo rechargeable batteries can be recharged ~500 times... Any idea?

Question:

Under what condition did you get 2000 shots? Quite interested to find out how to max the juice out of this battery?

Btw, why you need 4 batteries? You shoot more than 8000 shots in one event? Or 850 x 4 = 3400 shots per event?

no reviewing on LCD screen, turn on batt saving mode etc... goes a long way to squeeze the max out of ur EL4. i do dat too. lets say i charge my batt once a mth only, and dats on shooting every weekend!

why espn needs 4 batts? if u follow him on a wedding, u'll know why...

Nope, I don't know. The battery system of the D2 series are very different from others. The battery can be calibrated with the supplied charger, the charging system + camera body will inform you once the battery requires calibration. The battery has 5 stages of life also, once the life (displayed on the cam body screen) is used up, it's time to change. So far have seen D2H users use their batteries for a year plus and they've only hit the first stage of the battery.

I'm lifting the battery life out of the manual

Frankly speaking, It will be difficult to hit 2000 shots... unless u use manual focus and disable image reviewing. I shot quite little on digital, so battery life has never been an issue to me.

Actually, my point is that why 4 batts (cos of low shots/batt) or trigger happy mode (8000 shots)?

Try bursting continously for a whole day, the battery should last you for that 2000 shots.

its called back-ups. and, trust me. its pretty common among event shooters. (btw, as espn said, its for another guy). i got 1 guy carrying 4 D1h batts, and another carry 4 EL3 for d70. the most jia-lat is this guy i shoot with very often - 2 quantum batt packs for his flashes.

Yup thats right.. cos when u burst continously, u do not use image review and the lens is prefocused, so that battery can probably last 2000 shots

Typically 600-800 shots... i take very long to aim and focus to get my shot, so waste alot of batteries on AF..
