Any brudders out there who got the above lobang for 5D during Comex? Pay additional $99 for 2 years extended warranty & a 1GB Ultra 2 CF card?
Asking cos I wasn't informed by the salesman when I bought my 5D at Comex... Trying my luck now to see if I can get Harvey Norman to sell this deal. |

I thought it was $99 for extra 1 Gbyte Sandisk Ultra II + 70-300mm KM lens?
The $1599 already included one extra warranty year. Although the final one or two days of COMEX, buyer don't even need the $99 dollar and get the deal. No, I didn't buy from COMEX

Try talking to the store manager and not the salesperson.
Good luck! ![]() |

Thanks guys for your help. I went down to the Harvey Norman Jurong Point outlet and got myself an upgrade to Sandisk Ultra 2 1GB CF and another 3 years extended warranty for $99! I think it's quite worthwhile considering that I have a piece of mind for the next 5 years

Just to share my colleagues recent experience with HN on extended warranty. If you read the terms carefully, you will notice that there is this term called "Wear & Tear" is not covered. How then do you define that? Well, she brought her point and shoot Oly (with sliding cover to power up) to Tibet, only to discover on the 1st day that the lens would not extend on power on. Well, the rest of the trip was wasted with no precious memories at all.
On return, the camera was sent for servicing. Diagnosis was camera cover was loose. The camera was barely one year old. HN classified this as "wear & tear" and did not honour the warranty. She banged table for several days before they reluctantly agreed to cover the repairs. Just a word of caution: For electronics equipment, it is likely that if it works for the 1st few months, it is likely to work for the next year or so. Any claims on warranty after one or two years of use, it is likely the seller will classify it under wear and tear. It is very hard to dispute this, unless it is internal circuitry that gives way..... But on the bright side, $99 for freebies other than warranty is good enough! Michael |

Better still, what I understand is that if the model that you send in for repair is obsolete say 3 or 4 yrs down the road, they will replace you with a brand new set from their shop of the same dollar-amount at which you purchased the camera (ie. no depreciation factored in!).I guess it makes a difference for ppl who intend to keep the cam for more than a few years.. those who are constantly upgrading (< 1 yr) to newer models may not find it worth the while to spend on extended warranty. Just my 2 cents worth ![]() |

Extra $99 is for upgrade to Ultra 2 CF card and extended warranty. Assuming the CF upgrade is worth $40, the extended warranty is only $60! Definitely worth the $$$

So for those who had already made the purchase, dunno if we pay the $99, will HN gave us the added value of CF card and extended warrantly?

How come HN got so many different package for the extended warranty thingy??? I was charged $210 for the 3 yrs extended warranty during Comex...
The salesperson told me it's a std fee which is impossible to go lower... Now I felt so cheated. Sheesh. Shld've invest the $210 on a nicer camera bag instead...

Seriously, I think this is really unfair if they charge $210 for the extended warranty withouth informing you that there are some other promotions available. U should up HN & make some noise. Anyway, mine isn't the best deal... I heard that those with HN card paid abt $1,750 and got everything that I got PLUS additional 1 GB Sandisk card!!! ![]() |
