idea is there, but seems abit underexposed.
Judging from the 1st pic's sun, you shot in small aperture? |

pic 1 : the subject (lionfish) doesn't stand out. i think there is too much negative space and the reef is too dull in color in occupy so much space.
pic 2: strangely, my focus straight away comes to the featherstar. the corals on the right is distracting and i will crop them off. eric |

Shooting with the 2 strobes is much better than 1 strobe - more even lighting.
Downside is the whole setup becomes so heavy and clumbersome to manage. |

hi all,
thx for your comments...... i should have used another strobe to fill up the scene for the 1st pic......i suppose the uneven-ness of the coral has created lot of areas with harsh shadows......it is also due to the placement of my strobe..... for the 2nd pic......i agree with eric that some cropping will be good to remove some distractions.......of cos ideally, it will be better if the cropping is done at the point of pressing the shutter.......will have to work on that area.....tink it wil be a more pleasing pic if i were to move forward by another 2 feet or so...... |

H20, i agree with u too that ideally, the perfect shot is captured the moment u press the shutter with no post processing.......
but most pros and magzaines post processed their pics Don;t be too hard on yrself. hahahhaa![]() |

i can't shoot for nuts but i can comment. nothing in those 2 pics interest me. there is nothing (no subject) that stands out and makes me stare. so i think taking it in portrait doesn't help (cuz no subject). landscape format might help show a bit of the reefscape u are taking. personal opinion. dunno what i'm saying makes sense

thx for ur comment...... understand what u mean........the subjects are somewhat muted by the inadequate lighting and of cos it can do with a bit of cropping...... Last edited by h2o; 12th September 2005 at 12:31 PM. |
