You guys must have got your sum wrong. Transport minister just said the rail system has improved over the passed year. So what is there to complain? Today no breakdown right?

I think our Transport Minister is good. He said he is upset.

He may also have mentioned that public transport operators must continue to be profitable so that they can continue providing good or even better service. Absolutely!!

Since we cannot predict tomorrow, we will study why if it does breakdown. Usually there must be a reason.

    Two primary reasons I reckon:
    1) MRT system probably wasnt designed for the current population size, such as number of MRT trips per day.
    2) MRT system is almost thirty years old so it is inevitable that there would be problems.

How handling these problems are anticipated and prevented are different issues altogether - has more to do with the company's direction.

If it wasn't for the public outcry, I don't believe they will think much about service disruptions. How to increase profit to pacify shareholders is their priority.

what alternative train service do we have? So are they really gonna worry about profitability?

If they could they would probably stop the trains abruptly and make the commuters walk the rest of the journey. Come to think of it, they did it once and one angry commuter broke the glass in the train cabin ................................. just joking lah

Apparently, the way to beat ridiculous ERP gantries is to only get out on Sundays.

Bloody retard is a national embarrassment.

That guy is yet again quoted out of context. His comment was, I think (and hope) only about the fact that ERP operates on Saturdays. It was not meant to be an overall comment on ERP operation. But if you focus on the first part of CNA's Facebook post, his comment sounds really stupid.

Here is a partial quote of the news article:
Mr Lui added that charges for entry into Orchard Road will remain, on Saturdays.

"We still feel that there is a need to have this on Saturday afternoon. And for those who find the ERP charge is a burden, then maybe the possibility is for them to shop on Sundays instead because Sundays is entirely free and the traffic speeds a little bit better," he said.
Here is the CNA Facebook post (the bolded part has important contextual information, but most people disregard that and focus on the initial part of the post)
"For those who find the ERP charge is a burden, then maybe the possibility is for them to shop on Sundays instead": Lui Tuck Yew in response to calls to remove ERP fees for Orchard Road on Saturdays.
I still think it's a dumb comment to make, but if you take into account the context in which he said it, it's not as ridiculous as everyone is making it to be.

Yeah right ....it's only ridiculous if LTA chooses to remove ERP toll fees on any other day except Sunday.

It would be very funny when the NDP parade looks empty because most people are stuck in the trains

However, it would not be funny if photographers are still stuck in the trains when the fireworks started
