    Default IBook G4 1.42Ghz VS Centrino 2Ghz

Hi, Sorry about this most discussed topic, but I really need some advice here... I have these following lobangs:

    1. IBook 14" G4 1.42Ghz, 60GB HDD,
    with SuperDrive 512MB RAM at < $2200

    2. Acer 14" (Widescreen) Centrino 2Ghz, 100GB HDD
1GB DDR II RAM with CD/DVD burner drive also at < $2200

    Both comes with bluetooth.

I'll be doing quite a lot of photoshop with it. What do you think I should get? For the IBook, I can add another 512MB (I have a spare at home). I have another desktop PC at home (Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz, 1GB RAM).

    Help me solve this dilemma.

    Thankx.

Macs are pretty choosy about RAMs, not any tom-dick-harry RAMs work with Macs

If you want to work on PS, forget the iBook.

Kingston 512 (PC 2700 i think) will do?

    Should be doable

I ran PS off my ex-iBook with 768 RAM, doable, just slightly slow and not that responsive.

Now using my PB with 768RAM, slightly faster, but the response still a bit slow for me. Maybe I need more RAM with my PB.

i also just bought the ibook G4 14" with superdrive and 1GB RAM...

PS is ok on my ibook G4, but mine is 1GB RAM so maybe you have to add more RAM to it to make it faster...

Thanks for all the replies... I think i'm more or less decided on the centrino... with it's much powerful specs at the same price... more suitable for my heavy duty usage.

As for the MAC crossover, prob have to wait till IntelMacs come along.. then will see how...

if you wanna buy the centrino, fine.... But do yourself a favour and steer clear of acer/benq stuff. dang unreliable.
