Does anyone know if it is true that Tokina KM AF lens require modification before they can be used with the KM D7 and D5? Is the modification a firmware upgrade or is it a physical modification to the lens?

The Tokina lens do not need to be modified in any way to work with the minolta cameras - provided its Minolta AF mount in the first place . I have personally owned the 19-25mm from Tokina and had no issues. Drudkh who owns a 100-300f4 Tikina also did not have problems. So far the AF lens incompatibility for newer KM bodies plague some old Sigma lens. THey can do rechipping for free (i think). rgds, sulhan Last edited by sulhan; 5th September 2005 at 11:52 AM. |

Thanks for the response. How old are your lens?
I have a Tokina Minolta mount 24-200 and a 20-35 which I use with a Dynax 505. These lenses are about 2 years old. I read on the web a few months back that Tokina lens for Minolta film cameras require modifications to work properly with the Dynax 7D. I couldn't find the thread again using Google search. Maybe I will bring the lenses to the store and try them on a 5D body before I buy the body. Best regards ![]() |

Yes...that the best solution that i would recommend. Take the lens with you - try out with also in different aperture settings in "A" - aperture priority mode. rgds, sulhan |
