Default Carrying Bag for your 5D/7D?

hi, just got my DSLR. Just like to check with the experts here what carrying bag do you use for the 7D/5D
The system bag that comes with it looks good for storage, but I think its too bulky to carry around if gone touring.

Any recommendation?

Mind posting the bag that you currently has? Maybe can help you look at it. btw, think that once you go DSLR, maybe better to get something that can at least accommodate one more item at least ...

Currently have a Crumpler Stamp Claimer. With this bag, Only the 5D with kit lens can go in , nothing else, with my Velbon Ultra Maxi hook at the side.
Also have a Lowepro Photo Runner. With this, the 5D with kit lense, 3600 Flash, 75-300mm lense can go in, same thing, can hook my Velbon Ultra Max i.

Question, do you place the camera with the lens facing down and the LCD facing up?
Any other bags that can recommend?

Orion Trekker II (~$70-75) is pretty comfortable and could carry the camera with a few small lenses+flash. There is a separate pouch for other things like water bottle, umbrella, etc.

Hiee...

Backpack and toploaders have its advantages and disadvantages. Top leaders are good for quick changing of setup without the need to take down the bag - quite tough in crowded events if there are no table space to change lens for example... Backpacks, which are normally used by those having more items to carry around and want to avoid having to have a sling across their chest - one side slinging is also tough for large load on toploader.

I personally have bothe backpack and toploaders for different occassion. I like my backpack alot for travelling (Lowepor Mini trekker Classic). Just went cycling from home to botanic gardens today with the backpack - great!!!! .

Depends on your needs, do consider the above points..

just to share my 'baggage'

i started with a Lowepro Lynx 180 or 200 forget liao... or maybe smaller... its 1 sided backpack, looks cool, ya, but cannot put a DSLR (D7D with lens attached, no flash & such... so it have to go...

den i get a crumpler the big sidesling, company embarrassment i think... i kinda regretted now, should have gotten the bigger one, december quarter or something... that can put a laptop, never knew i would need that, at least could slot in a reflector if need be... anyway, its nice to be able to fit a 50-500 at the hidden compartment, and still carry about 3 lens and a body on the top compartment & with a 5600, the accessories like the OC-1100, OS-1100, remote cable, 2 FP-400, 2x4pack 2500mah batts, 1 charger, wat else, oh ya, a bounce card... but it would be damn heavy...

now my trusty bagpack... err sling bag.. err no... SBO.. ya...SBO.. hehe... a lowepro harness with belt pack, couple with 2 lens case, 1 20aw pouch, 1 70 toploader, gives me about ability to have 4 lens in the lens pouch, or 2 lens in 1 pouch with flash on the other, pouch is either for light meter or the EP-2, toploader can fit quite alot of items. and best of all, i can deploy faster.

tat 1 not rambo liao... tat 1 is a porter...

my style is hand take a pistol (D7D with 17-35...) hooked to the Infra Red Detection system with Flash Bang (HS-5600), den hooked to the automatic reload system (EP-2).... den carry small ammo charger on waist (50mm & 90mm) with another sniper bazooka canon at the back (50-500mm in a lens case 5) on the backpack include a deflector (bounce card), C4 cable (OC-1100), C4 exchanger (OS-1100), Grenades (CF & Batteries)... oh ya, i conveniently put my C4 detonator (polaris light meter) around either my waist or backpack...

i not rambo, i am Run... Run Forrest Run...
