    Default wat type of supplement to take

    hey people..
    just wondering if anyone can give me a gd answer here..

    i m trying to build up my muscle mass.. so i m wondering if any supplement will help...
    my excerise routine is more towards gym, swimming and running.

    i need to build up for ippt... so any recommendation.

    erm....i m around 69kg..and got big bones doh...

    i heard there is alot of different stuff out there...like protein powder, mass builder, weight gainner... so i m wondering which one will i need.

    Get a personal PT and some professional advice. It's not as simple as taking protein powder etc... It will depend on your body and what training you are in.

    Hi, supplement, as the word imply is just a supplement. The most important thing is to have a balance diet and routine exercise.

    Unless you are going into body building, then you need more protein intake, otherwise for IPPT, just focus on your weak point and mostly are strenght training and endurance training in the case of 2.4 run.

    No need supplement.

    I find the fire-ants supplement excellent. You can get it from that Chinese emporium in Chinatown.

    Agree wat jimtong would say .. U don need supplements for IPPT.

    Aniway to answer your question...
    I would recommand:

    Protein - http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/whey.html
    Can be bought at GNC too .. Go for chocolate / chocolate mint.
    Best to be taken immdiately after gym with 2scoops of gulcose or honey. As sweet as possible.

    Creatine - EAS creatine monohydrate
    Can be bought at GNC too ..
    5g together with your protein and honey/gulcose. For Pre-loading pls refer to instructions.

    Usually this 2 will be enough .. Unless u wana go hardcore.
    They are supplements , not magic pill or steriod. You still need a good diet / training ..

    I went for body checkup that time, the people taking my test said that 50% of those body builders who consume lotsa those musle building supplement have weak kidney when old cos those supplement contain alot of mineral or something and the kidney is constantly under stress filtering these material. But then I only hearsay lah.

    1 Supplements do not build muscles.

    2 Only Anabolic steroids, Growth Hormone,and Insulin promote muscle growth.

    3 Endurance expercises do not promote muscle growth - only efficiency.

    4 To get more muscles, do power exercises - like deadlifts and squats. And do it you puke!

    5 Then eat a lot!


    And finally, supplements only build one thing - the bank accounts of the Supplements Peddlers who take you people as suckers! One can always make money if one applies this important assumption:

    " You will make money if you assume that people are idiots"!

    Hey whoelse,

    I'm impressed. Which med school did you graduate from?

    Sometimes I do dispense some "medical advices" too in this forum. My limited medical knowledge is mainly gathered from standing and listening in the crowd gathered around those street medical peddlers/stunt men.

    Hi p4610,

    First of all, how tall are you? There are several ways to bulk up. Bodybuilders usually go through 2 phases, bulking, then go clean diet. During bulking phase, you need to consume considerable amount of caories and carbs. Believe me, pro bodybuilders consume upwards of 10,000 calories/day. You will need approx. 2.5k calories just to maintain your current weight so I would recommend consuming 4k - 6k calories/day for several weeks plus high protein intake, approx. 1g protein/body ibs. You will notice a considerable weight gain. However during this bulking period, you should also do some weight train or else you will end up gaining fat instead. Cut down on cardio as it will burn calories. Also, try to eat several meals a day, roughly 5-7 meals a day.

    If you have problems getting the calories from whole food, you can buy weight gain supplements from places like GNC. They are usually called Weight Gainer of somesort.

    Speaking from experience, I have done bulking myself, and after approx. 1 month, I gain approx. 10 pounds.
