Can a 580EX trigger the 550EX in manual mode ( manually control power ratio )under master and slave setting ? My 580EX can trigger my 420Ex only in the E-TTL mode, not the manual mode.

Please help, thanks.

I'm pretty sure its possible. When you set it to slave, have to hold the mode button longer to change mode to manual, if not nothing happens. Dunno why they made it like this also.

Yes, possible, done it a few times. Remember to set your 550EX to slave mode, not master mode!
