Default War of the dslr!

Hi guys,
below are some of the pics taken last night after abusing and molesting all the various brand and make of cameras....not a very fair comparison as i did not standardised all the setting...but at least it give u guys an rough ideal of what pictures u are going to get with the std kit lens

Hi There...

Though this is snap shots, you have a good example of wide open softness issues on lens (i;massuming all shots were taken at wide open apertures at what ever focal length the lens is in.

Not being biased but just looking at the shots, the 350D Kit and the D50 Kit lens seems to have a "soft focus lens" effect - one that you get if you use the minolta 100mm f2.8 soft focus lens setting at between "0" to "1".

These problems on the two kit lens will go away if stopped down.

Hmm, the snapshots results for the D5D kit lens is in line with what i saw yesterday while testing some of the guys camera. Although a kit lens.....at widest aperture(not stopped down) it does not have the "soft effect". This soft effect - as what i see here is mainly a coating type of softness. I may be wrong but this was what i have seen before when using certain non-Digital lens on DSLR.

BUT!!!These pics....if all print up to 5R all will look sharp!!!! Be it Canon ,Nikon, Olympus etc kit lens...

Well again....thankx for the samples.

rgds,
sulhan

now you need to choose which cam to buy if you're serious about. you have to choose carefully. all 3 cameras are good, just that the 5D has anti-shake built into the body and any lens can be used. but minolta's variety of lenses are quite limited but all range of focal length had been covered. canon & nikon has more selection of lenses and it is very easy for you to test certain lenses. why? why you join photoshoot outings, confirm at least 3 out of 10 will be either nikon or canon. minolta unlikely. so your decision has to be right.

Actually, what I like about minolta system is you can get very good quality lens at a much cheaper price on the 2nd hand market than the competitors. Good old lens like the 70-210mm f4 and the 135mm f2.8 can be gotten cheaply on the 2nd hand market, and even excellent newer designed lens like the 50mm f1.4 is much cheaper than the competitors.

I agree 100%

Although, C or N have better lens selection, but not all lenses have IS or VR right? all Minolta lenses will have stabilising effect because of the body AS.
