Hi,
No search function, so can't find if anyone else has this problem. My approx 1 year old BP511A from Eastgear doesn't seem to charge on Canon original charger. Battery in cam is ok (was ok last night, now drained). Charger charges 2 other original batteries. Contacts all cleaned. Any ideas? |

Must say that Eastgerar batteries have been good batteries.
Was still using it last night and it lasted for quite some time ie it didn't drain fast. Just that the charger doesn't even blink when I put it in the charger. |

The newer canon charges are not compatible with some 3rd party batteries. The older canon chargers are fine. I believe different batches of 3rd party batteries are from different sources also... so its best to check with your charger first.
Guess that's the risk when you get 3rd party batteries. For me I have both old and new canon chargers and a 3rd party fast charger as well.... so no worries.... ![]() |

I'm using EG-BP511 (green marking) with my 300D charger, no problem so far.
Intending to buy one more EG-BP511A at Comex, now I'm worried. Is my 300D charger considered old charger? Also another question, my EG-BP511 is 7.4V 1700mHa, EG-BP511A (green label) also 7.4V 1700mHa, so is there any difference between this 2 models? I only notice after the charger that came with the 20D, which introduced the BP511A with higher capacity than the BP511, was released. So I guess the 300D's charger should be OK, but its still safer to check first.

Just back from Comex, bought BP511A from eastgear, except that it doesn't have Eastgear label on the batt anymore.
The BP511A on Eastgear website http://www.eastgear.com/shop/images/...BP511A-400.jpg Label: Green Brand : Eastgear Model: EG-BP511A Power: 7.4V 1700mAh The BP511A I just bought from Eastgear booth at COmex Label: Blue Brand : Camera Devices Model: CD-BP511A Power: 7.4V 1800mAh So suppose to be longer lasting at 1800mAh, but not sure if I can mix it with my 1700mAh in my battery grip or not leh. Battery charge with my 300D charger no problem. Last edited by clicknick; 3rd September 2005 at 12:06 AM. |
