get your facts right.

are you talking about the 70-300 DO IS USM or 75-300 or 75-300 USM?

if you don't know anything, could you please not make a fool of yourself? 70-200's are probably the most important lenses for general sport shooting.

thanks for being helpful, but this guy was talking about the 70-200 and 70-300 Mk II. there was never a 70-300 Mk II, not now, at least. the 70-300 is f/4.5-5.6; the 70-200 is either f2.8 or f4 constant.

he's making a fool out of himself comparing the WRONG lenses. myopic too, i must add; since the 70-200 is ALWAYS used for general shooting.

go through the archived shots here; you can count the 70-200 till you fall asleep:

Two Things:

1) Ignore or Accept. Don't go around calling people a fool.

2) Don't go around calling people a fool, twice, on the same thread.

if you don't know the facts, and babble anyhow, what does that make you then?

in the Buy and Sell section, there's only 4 to 5 listings for people selling 70-200 lenses, either f/2.8 and f/4. where does the "a lot" come from?

not knowing the facts doesnt make any1 anything.
i am sure some1 who talks facts can sound like a fool too.

anyway, 4-5 seems alot, depending on what other lens u compare it to.

Perhaps it was a misguided statement.
But look deeper into it.
Now if I want to buy a lens cheap off CS member.
What do I do?
I can start threads that say everyone is selling brand XX lens model YY off and in anticipation of a fictitious new ZZ lens impending.

Or else I can constantly send in disparaging accounts of how lousy brand AA lenses are and then praise how super brand BB lenses are.
Then I can sell you either a BB lens or something related to the BB lens. At High prices.

This is called gradual brainwashing.

Right?

Does it matter if you are a hobbyist and no one pays you for your pictures, if your lens has 0.05% more curvilinear distortion than the other lens? (it may not even be true) Hey, it is your money! Spend if you like.

As for 70-200 EF f2.8, wow. This is a reasonably good lens. I got the slides over several years to prove it. More than good enough for a hobbyist.

AND I AM NOT SAYING THIS BECAUSE I GOT SOMETHING TO SELL YOU.

Yes, do get your facts right. There isn't a Canon 70-300 before, and YES, the 70-200 is the most important sports lens a photographer needs, and it can be used for event shooting also.
The 70-200 is also one of the best telephoto zoom lens Canon has produced, and if there are people selling, they're probably upgrading from the f4 version to the f2.8 non-IS / IS version

PS: sehsuan, the canon one is a 75-300 f4.5-5.6 USM III...not 70-300...

fool
noun.
1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.

2. One who acts unwisely on a given occasion: I was a fool to have quit my job.

3. One who has been tricked or made to appear ridiculous; a dupe: They made a fool of me by pretending I had won.

4. Informal. A person with a talent or enthusiasm for a certain activity: a dancing fool; a fool for skiing.

5. A member of a royal or noble household who provided entertainment, as with jokes or antics; a jester.

6. One who subverts convention or orthodoxy or varies from social conformity in order to reveal spiritual or moral truth: a holy fool.

7. A dessert made of stewed or puréed fruit mixed with cream or custard and served cold.

8. Archaic. A mentally deficient person; an idiot.

Sounds like definition 1) to me....

Obi-Wan Kenobi says,
"Who's the more foolish: the fool, or the fool who follows him?"

For me.... I am just a playing the fool.....

I think it might be so, due to the price jack up for the current lens prices.
so if i would to sell mine now, i'll be either using my 70-200 for free or
even make a small profit out of it. But this kid of mine has been very faithful
in producing my photos. So not intending to sell it. User of a EF 70-200 f2.8L IS
USM lens.

come come sehsuan...cut the guy some slack and let's not make a fool of yourself. he is simply not as knowledgeable as you are, but he is no more a fool than any of us including yourself. if you can make a mistake, so can he. give him a break.
