What did the hurricane say to the coconut tree?
    - Hang onto to your nuts, this is no ordinary blowjob.

Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season is Like Christmas

    10. Decorating the house (boarding up windows).
    9. Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season (camping gear, flashlights).
    8. Last minute shopping in crowded stores.
    7. Regular TV shows pre-empted for "specials".
    6. Family coming to stay with you.
    5. Family and friends from out-of-state calling.
    4. Buying food you don't normally buy ... and in large quantities.
    3. Days off from work.
    2. Candles.

1 And the number one reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas...At some point you know you're going to have a tree in your house!

Sorry, I just thought it would lighten up the conversation......instead of fueling it.

To me, death is always around the corner. Every evening news is about someone somewhere misfortunes.......

I apologise if I caused any ill feelings among all of you who read my posts.

In the midst of all the death and destruction, people are getting robbed, raped and stores are being looted. Even relief workers are not spared as they have been shot at by sniper fire according to the news.

Goes to show that mankind, whether from a developed first world nation or a third world one, are all the same. I know Americans who looked down on Asian people as 'savages' and such, even after the tsunami last year, but this catastrophe has proven that they're no better than the rest of us.

Those who have been to the state of Louisiana, and New Orleans, will know that its as good as a third world country.

That place is like a hell hole. Sort of what Detroit looked like in the movie 8 mile

Please, not every single place in America is sunshine, roses, milk and honey

Currently situation, the US garment has warrant a 'Kill On Sight' if they find looters or any crime-committers.

Default Just something lifted off my blog:

    Katrina

The largest ever operation by the International Red Cross has just kicked off in the wake of the hurricane that has just given the soft belly of the United States a good hard kick. New Orleans, among other coastal cities over there are swimming in water, anarchy is rife, and hundreds of thousands homeless, and around 50 people are dead.

On the same day, a stampede in Iraq kills more than 600. I'm just being cynical again, and its easy to be the armchair critic when I'm lying nice, dry and warm in bed with laptop balanced on my stomach, and say that the Americans over there don't deserve this much aid. Since when are American lives worth more in the eyes of the International Red Cross than in Iraq, or the cleansing operation going on in Zimbabwe, or one of dozens of human tragedies going on at the same time elsewhere in the world?

Have we elevated the US to such a pedestal, that when the great equalizing factor of Mother Nature comes along to remind the world's last superpower that they aren't all they are crocked up to be, the rest of the world scrambles to put the US back to the top?

    How the mighty have fallen.

I dunno if you read the news .

From us in Aussie , ninemsn.com.au
    http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=59754

Iraq-tested US troops with shoot-to-kill orders were deployed in New Orleans today to restore law and order after days of chaos and looting in the hurricane-devastated city.
Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco said the 300 troopers from the Arkansas National Guard had been authorised to open fire on "hoodlums" who have been terrorising the flooded city in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Read from the papers that Hurricane Katrina's storm surge is more devestating than the 2004 Tsunami in Indonesia. It caused more damage.

The papers also said that scientist say that the world is currently in the 'high' season for natural disasters. It will go on for the next few years. Can expect to see one biggie a year.

if Man is part of nature, the greatest natural disaster for Man is self devastation, we have quite a number over the last few years already, in fact the last 2 centuries

Around 50 dead? That sounds far too optimistic. What have you been reading?

On another note. Perhaps the US should withdraw all of it's funding for aid around the world, including the funding for 25% of the overall budget to the UN, and focus more on itself instead of sticking its nose in everyone else's business.

Let's not do a comparism on human error and the might of mother nature. New Orleans serve us a reminder how lucky we are. BTW, I heard rumours that Katarina will be going towards Japan. Is that possible?

That blog entry was written about two days ago before the real extent of loss of life was realized. If you notice, the stampede in Iraq stands at 1000 dead now, but back at that point of time it was 600.

Its more a commentary based on the information available 48 hours ago than anything up to date and factual as we get more information.

Opinions expressed are just my own and may not be politically correct nor sensitive.

Har...? Are you talking about natural disaster or Human's Warfare? If there is no war, then humans does not exist. Animals fight their own wars too. Just that our weapons are far more devastating.

Not possible but a similar one in strengh is very possible. Hurricanes usually die out even before it reaches US's mid west. Let alone its West Coast and the Pacific Ocean. In JP it will be known as a Typhoon.

US's hurricanes normally originate from the Alantic Ocean and JP's from the Pacific Ocean. Both will normally hit the countrie's east coast 1st.

Nice disclaimer. Maybe I should add it to my profile. (not Katrina related: I can appreciate your candor and opinions about this disaster. Being political correct all the time can lead to complacency and lack of discussion.)

BTW - just heard from CNN that Singapore is sending 3 helicopters to aid in the recovery.
