Was looking for an underwater casing for my FM2N and came across the following:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Ikelite-...QQcmdZViewItem Looks like it can fit a few types of film cameras.. Anyone got any idea what camera fits into this? Have anyone ever seen something like that?? |

Wow!
Never seen anything like that. But the following quotes should make you very worried "... and looks to be in good working condition." and "I don't know much about it..." I am not sure if there is such a thing as a generic SLR U/W housing, but i am pretty sure that the housing will need new o-rings and maybe new control glands. Parts that may not be in production anymore. However, i am tempted to bid for it just as a collectors item. ![]() |

If you got a vintage camera like me, then you'll need a vintage casing
Looking to replace my C5050 (less than 2 year but my FM2 outlasted it) that concussed a few weeks back.. some options I'd like to consider 1) repair the d*mn thing for something like $300 2) buy another C5050 3) buy this vintage casing and pray that it fits.. 4) buy toto and pray so that I can buy a D70 with casing ![]() |

Maybe i can share my experience with u....
i sold my C-5050 setup and gotten the Fuji F810 setup. another CSer is doing the same... If u can wait, look out for the Fuji E900. doesn;t have the battery problem that F810 faces, and using AA batteries as well. only thing is we don't know if there will be a housing for it. Another CSer is waiting on the sidelines for that. Eric |

D2x too greedy, at least 5 1/2 numbers then can get
D70 can pray for 5 numbersAgreed, FM2 is precious but soaking it in water won't neccesarily spoil it (does it ever spoil??) + able to get a few old bodies over ebay much cheaper and easily than C5050s The Fujifilm E900 idea is not too bad.. Luv their wonderful saturated colours! But will miss the bright lens of the C5050. One of the few cameras that can adequately take indoor event shots.. |

For me, I base the selection of F810 strictly on u/w usuage. The shutter lag is almost instantaneous. Eric |

![]() if u can't wait. there are plenty at www.digitaldiver.net That forum is almost like a F810 club. Else, u can go to www.ikelite.com and there are some samples from Dr. Bob. or go directly to his website: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bob_whorton/ Eric Last edited by kthan; 1st September 2005 at 05:13 PM. |
