Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting a circular polariser and also a IR filter (if my 300D supports) for my 28-135 IS lens. Is there is a particular brand that I should go for? I should be keeping this lens for quite a while so I wouldn't mind spending more. Thanks

Get a 77mm CP (brand? that depends) & step down ring. So in future, if you have more lenses, just buy the step down ring to match your lens thread size will do.
Hope you understand what I mean dude. ![]() Last edited by Spectrum; 31st August 2005 at 01:36 AM. |

The Tokina and Kenko CP filters are a good bet if on a lower budget. You can consider Hoya for mid priced filters and B+W if you've got more $$ than you know what to do with.

Thanks guys for your advice. I'm considering a B+W filter. Still pondering if I should get a 77mm one and get a step down ring to 72mm for my 28-135mm IS.
I heard the Nikon CP is quite good too. Any idea on it's price? |

A 72mm B&W MRC CP filter cost $163.. very ex man.
Wonder why a filter can cost more than, say, a 50 f1.8 lens..? |

same reason why the strap of your tag hauer watch cost more then your whole swatch watch stop analogy but its late bottom line, its 80% branding 20% quality imo |

Try to get the slim type CP by either B+W or Nikon cos anything from 24mm or wider, vignetting will occured.
That's the reason why I recommend you to buy a 77mm CP & a step down ring. |

The slim one (CP MRC) from B&W cost close to $200 at Cathay..
Quality certainly good though, but still feel heartache to buy one. But heard that even hoya cp with mrc also quite ex huh? |

Wah...thanks guys for the advice. $160++ for the B+W CP is really quite expensive. I might consider the Hoya one or if anyone knows someone who is willing to sell the B+W one at a lower price, please let me know ya? Thanks a lot.
