    Default Editing "VOB" Files

I hv a LG DVD Video Recorder which capture in "VOB" file format.

Lately, I am trying to edit (discard away the commercials) from the "VOB" file using "PowerDVD" and re-burn it on to a DVD-R but noticed there is a lag between the sound and video clip, in another words the sound doesn't coincide with the video. I am using a Pentium 4 - 2.4 Ghz with 512 MB RAM, hence wonder whether the abv is due to my computer speed (too slow) or insufficient RAM?

Alternatively, is it better to convert the VOB to AVI or MPEG and then edit on the AVI/MPEG files?
