If you actually did read the thread they said it was possibly due to the firmware problem, and if you actually do somehow experience the problem its a simple fix away, just bring it down to Canon at Habourfront. If you're so worried why don't you just test out a few grips.

Just search canon website,it state that BG-E2 only serial no. 096000 and before got problem. Serial no after should be ok, i think.
