Default Water and Oil Don't Mix

One of the best things my tax dollars go to...National Public Radio

I would be very grateful if some of you Spore bros could enlighten me about these water treatment plants if you please. Are they like giant super RO units or something? I'm sure they are more sophisticated than that. Perhaps cheaper than salt water to fresh? ???

I am so tired of hearing about oil. Let's talk about water instead. Maybe it will be a more pleasant discussion???

What do you want to know? Wastewater reclamation (NEWater) and seawater desalination in Singapore uses similar membrane processes, but slightly different operating conditions and pretreatment procedures.

I forgot to post the dang link dang it...

This article made me come up with this question to you all...

Is Singapore a leader in these types of technologies?..sounds like something good to invest in...sounds like the future to me.

Many parts of my country have severe droughts that affect business with extremes. Any way we could become more efficient and help folks would be to our collective advantage I think.

It is all in what knowledge you know I think.

That is what I am saying...is this a viable proposition when traditional resources are in scarce supply? Apparently they are doing it!! From the article and what I have read about Singapore perhaps this is just one more way Singapore is sort of like a microcosm of the world nowadays??? And perhaps a leader in this particular technology??? Please educate me bros!

from what i read years back, Hyflux developed a more cost-effective RO membrane which is now used by PUB for newater.

right now PUB is looking at orange county's groundwater replenishment system - underground water reservoirs.

Just like to add that before all this 'Newater' and turning Singapore River Basin into a giant freshwater reservoir... in my Youth... its a near yearly 'We'll Cut Your Water Supply' with Dr M of Malaysia... Just glad with our water issue nearly solved (and a difference Prime Minister in Malaysia)... ni longer do we have to go through such near yearly event again...

I for one... would gladly drink my own recycled waste time and time again if we became more independence from others...

I think that saga ended with singapore buying water from indonesia as a backup and wastewater reclaimation at the same time.

The next generation of UMNO leaders e.g. Hishammuddin, Mukhriz Mahathir and Khairy Jamaluddin would not be easy to deal with as Najib.
