Default Photos used without crediting copyright owners

Recently found out a certain site has blatantly used and even watermarked images from 500px, particularly from this article: https://iso.500px.com/from-bangkok-t...und-the-globe/

    The aforementioned website is http://www.weibo.com/u/2989668520#_rnd1420363579769

Should the matter be raised to 500px or is it up to the individuals to take action? Or is this normal? Quite new to this so don't know what is expected..

Weibo is based in China so most probably this user is based in China... The watermark is an automated watermarked for any picture the user uploads to weibo. Not sure how far you will get with a take down order on a site in China...

Yes I guess... How about "local" sites? http://sg.nanyangpost.com/2015/01/3_44.html

Don't think I'll be taking action this time round since they aren't using it commercially, but would like to know what is the usual course of action in such cases? (for learning purposes)

If talking about "photos used without crediting copyright owners", there are plenty of examples in clubsnap photoshoot services section.

An example is this: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1484237 - "Credits to the respective photographers"

Seriously, how "sincere" and "rock-solid" is this kind of credit. It is as good as no credit.

Out of curiousity, I had in the past chat with my legal friends (not 1, but 3 in fact) over kopi to chat on this copyright issue in the photo services in clubsnap - their take is that the photographers has a VERY high chance to win a lawsuit if the photographers decide to lodge one - the key thing for these photoshoots is: the organisers are using the images for a clear commercial purpose i.e. to showcase the models and advertise their shoot services.

But no, this is not my parsar to go get my butt involved in. I have not/not deciding to sign up for such model shoots..

Actually, the model receives the photos from the photographers with full usage rights. The models themselves gave the shoot organizer the photos and the right to use the photos. So if there is a dispute, it acutally comes down to the photographers and the model not the organizers.
