Default Prices of Wide-angle Zooms from CP

Got these from e-quotation:

1) Tamron SP AF24-135mm F/3.5-5.6 AD Aspherical (IF) (Canon Mount) @ S$590.00
2) Canon EF 22-55mm f/4-5.6 USM - no stock
3) Tokina AT-X 242AF (Canon Mount) @ S$680.00
4) Tokina AF193 (Canon Mount) @ S$600.00
5) Canon EF 24-85 mm f3.5/4.5 USM @ S$550.00

that said, does anyone know the price of sigma 24-70mm f2.8? CP doesn't carry Sigma lenses so can't find out.....

I think it was debated to heat on another thread, that a lens with a wider aperture doesn't mean equate to sharper pictures than those with smaller apertures, a lot depends on the glass and lens assembly design too right. In this case, if speed and shallow DOF is not required, will the sigma 24-70 f2.8 still be the best choice?

The Sigma for that range is good value. You can always stop down to get a sharper pic. So far, no complaint from those that I known using it.

Get a used Tokina 28-70mm f/2.6-2.8 ATX Pro II, should cost around $400. Excellent image quality, excellent build quality. It's strange not many people here like Tokina....

Regards
CK

This lens is not as good as the Sigma 70-200mm at wide open. Furthermore, it is very noisy. However, if you stop down very often and you can withstand the noise, I think that this one is the best choice.

PS: The filter size is 86mm.
