Default All F80 users.....

Sent an e-mail to Nikon S'pore regarding the film leader........

Mail sent by me:-

> Hi, I would like to know if it's possible to program/modify the F80 so that when I rewind film, the film leader will stick out (just like the F100). And if this is possible, how much will it cost?

Regards,

Darren

Their reply:-

Good Day Darren ,

Yes, we can do it. If your camera is still under warranty it will be free if not there will be a charge of $30.00

Ya, mine is still under warranty. Any way it is still more convenient than a picker. So used to it on the F5.

Hi all.

I just called Nikon Service Centre Singapore. I am checking for the same service for F65, and it is possible too. But still waiting for their reply for the cost if the warranty is over.

Hope this is useful.

Hi all. Just got a call from the Nikon Service centre.

For F65, even if the warranty is over, it will still be free.

But a friend advise not to do it, as the used film might got mixed up with unuse film if you put them all together. And forget to put marking. Better to use a film picker in this case, as you can decide which roll is necessary to pull out the leader again. Do have a point there.

So please which one suit you. Just my thought.

Getting used film mixed up with new ones will only show how unorganised the photographer is. There are so many ways to prevent this from happening.

Just got my F80 re-prog for the film lead out. Told them I remember when I did it for my F5 I was told that it would be free first time. If re-prog after that (ie to change it back to film lead in) there will be a charge. Nikon did it for free. They didn't check for warranty. So for those who want to do so should be able to do so even if your warranty is over.

You can ask the supervisor. Think the counter staff would ask you to show warranty.

Do let me know if it can be done, I'm in for it as well.
However, I wonder, will it have ill-affect on the exposure?

Hahah, that's a limitation in shutter design, I'm sure.
