Default Coolpix with off camera flash

A few questions regarding the Cool pix camera from Nikon (775) in particular.

    1. Have anybody tried the Coolpix 775 with a off-camera flash (i.e wireless flash that is triggered by the camera's in-built flash)?

    2. Is it possible?

    3. Can share what is the outcome?

    4. Which make is the off-camera flash?

    5. What are the required settings?

    Thanks in advance.

i've tried it with a 995. there's no magic formula (unless you have a flash meter...), you have to use trial and error to set the external flash setting (eg: full power, 1/2, 1/4), look at the LCD to see its the effect you want.

i used an sb-26 as off-camera flash, but plenty of 3rd party ones around. it would be useful to get one that can vary flash power.

there're slave flash with auto modes. so you just set the aperture on the camera to the same one on the flash, and you can get good exposure when the subject is within the flash coverage indicated.

Default Off camera flash with CP775

    Thanks for the replies.

I have since tested with two wireless flash and the results are varying.

    1. Tried with a third party wireless and the exposures are under. Which is rather puzzling. Any thoughts?
Not recommended in this case. Btw, you can't set aperture on the CP775.

    2. Tried with SB80DX (overkill) and it works. Works better with the 'omnibounce' (supplied) and set under Auto mode. So just set and fire away.
Alternatively can set to manual and 1/32 flash output (troublesome).
    Conclusion, it works.

Thanks again for the replies. Hope this follow up could help others with the same questions (as me initially).
