Am looking to get a new PC (desktop) and the various options available prompted me to do some research on graphics cards. Since I'll be using it mainly for image processing, this article was very helpful. It goes into detail as to which tools in PS use which aspects of the GPU. Hope it helps you too.
Essentially, choose clock speed (eg 800MHz is better than 500MHz) and memory interface bandwidth(256 bit better than 124bit) over VRAM and CUDA scores(these two are more crucial for video games)

All the best! Hope you get a good setup. And do share your build once you've decided! Especially which gpu.
