Default Underwater Portraits

Finally! After all that talk for so many months, we are really going to do it! Underwater fashion shoot!!! Ok, not exactly fashion, hence titled as Underwater Portraits instead

This will be an experimental pool portrait photography, I only managed to book two dates with NTU, who already is very generous to allow us to use their premises.

This is intended as a friendly contest, with the participating works exhibited and winners announced on a special event in November 2005. Any prizes for the winners? You BET!! Only photos taken from the organized pool shoots will be qualified for entry.

But from previous discussions, even if without prizes, I am hoping there will be spontaneous response

Details of Underwater Portraits

Dates: 28th August and 10th September

Time: 1.00pm-6.00pm

Venue: NTU Diving Pool

Cost: SGD50 per photographer, and at least five 8R prints/2400x1680 resolution digital images for each model. NO PROFITS FROM THIS AT ALL, only covering costs, and excess goes to models (trust me, not a lot left)

Maximum five photographers per shootout, model and photog is on one to one basis.

Scuba tanks provided, photogs please bring your own regs, and BCDs if you want. Rental is available at additional cost.

Models:

Elise_ng (no pic available)

Yun

And …

Now, THAT's someone you dun always get to see modelling!!!

Ok, the models aren’t exactly experienced in underwater modeling, but hey, we are all here to learn and share, aren’t we?

Very high chance that these are the only two shoots that I can get to organise, and in a deep pool. In future, if I do get to organise in other premises again, trust me, we are looking at least SGD150 per photographer, really.

Yun looks fab. Hope she is great underwater too.....

As for the male model, i dunno what u did to entice him, but this is a nice way to get portraits to decorate your future home......

I am in for the Sep 10. As for 28th Aug, really depends on whether my tray will be ready.

thats really where most of the costs are on now ... trying to make them look good ... but basically, most of the models are just first timers like us, at pool portrait photography, in their case modelling for it.

it will be good if the signed up photographers can start thinking what they would like the models to do ... no high level difficulty stunts please

Details to add:

Each photographer will have half an hour with each model, with 15 min interval break before the next one. Photographer placing will be based on first sign up first serve basis. Except for myself, I will be the last.

Schedule

P stands for Photog, M for model

1.00-1.30
P1 P2 P3
M1 M2 M3

1.30-1.45 break

1.45-2.30
P1 P2 P3
M2 M3 M1

2.30-2.45 break

2.45-3.15
P1 P2 P3
M3 M1 M2

3.15-3.45 break

3.45-4.15
P4 P5 P6
M1 M2 M3

4.15-4.30 BREAK

4.30-5.00
P4 P5 P6
M2 M3 M1

5.00-5.15 break

5.15-5.45
P4 P5 P6
M3 M1 M2

P6 will be myself, adding one more photog if you guys have no objections.

So each photographer shoots for about two hours, models gets plenty of breaks in between.

We strongly encourage photographers to refrain from making the models keep their eyes opened all the time. Advice is to take eyes open shots in the beginning, and move towards eyes closed shots. Very good effects can still be derived from closed eyes shots, there are quite a few successful uw closed eye shots.

(the post be self delete in a couple of days)

To those that will be attending the shoot.

Would it be plausible for someone to take photos of the event?

Some of you might know I'm a big fan of undewater Portraiture... more so than not with Mask/snorkel/fins... etc..

I would love to be in this shoot... However... Due to the fact that I'll be marooned in this(my current) place for a while, I'd at least like to see how the preparation/organisation/actual photography process went.

It will be an eye opener for me.....

Cheers
