A Visual Journey Into The Land Of The Forgotten Angels...

Dear friends of CS,

We would like to invite everyone including ur family and friends to come down to Ju Eng Home for the Senior Citizens for a one day Photo Exhibition.

We are doing this small exhibition to create awareness for this Old Folks Home. With this exhibition with our truth visual account on the typical life of the folks here, we hope that we can inspire and motivate the public to give their kindness in terms of monetary donation or their physical voluntary effort for the Home.

Aging problem in Singapore is a real and current problem. We, as a Singaporean who sings the "One People, One Nation, One Singapore" song, could not hide away from this problem. Its not our government's problem, its OUR problem... and the old folks home in Singapore is not the solution to this problem.

Many of us never step into an Old Folks Home before.. you are not that lucky, cos you miss some very important lessons in life. Every pair of eyes in the Home tells a story... you will learn that life is not only about survival and climbing the socity ladder... I can't tell you now... its up to you to discover... through their stories... (visit the photo exhibition, and you will find out more...)

Please refer to the poster below for the exhibition details... and we hope to see your support, not only for the project organisers... but also to the old folks in Ju Eng Home.

Please don't treat this message as a trash, cos the folks there are not... (give them a reason to carry on living...)

FYI, all photos on display are for sale, including their copyright...

We did not print any books because the project timeline was too short and no budget for that.... sponsors were not very supportive as they got other better thing to do this time of the year....

We tried to overcome all the obsticles and were determined to push it to the end...
Because we do not want to disappoint the folks there...

Its not easy to take photos on those folks... its unlike street photography... my team agreed with me, we took quite sometimes to develope the confidence to take up this job...

We believe that to convince others, we must first convince ourselves....

I would like to thanks those who had show their interest in supporting... please help us and the Home to forward this information to as many of your friends as possible...

Dear Friends,

The Address for the Old Folks Home is:
205 Jalan Kayu, Singapore 799436

The Date is on 27th of August
Time is 11am to 7pm

As for taking photos in the home...
I can't say yes or no.
Cos its not so nice to pull out your camera to start shooting the residents there if you do not know them well.... they will feel uneasy, and might get fustrated...
And we also forsee that it will be a bit crowded on that day, and there will be quite a lot of photography friends around, if everyone starts shooting in the home, it will be quite chaotic... What I suggest is that u can bring ur cam along, if the situation allows, then u can pull it out to snap a few shots, if it dosen't you can take a short walk to seletar farmway (the abandon HDB estate) which is just a stone throw behind the Home to take photos...

I hope everyone will enjoy the exhibition.

Oh, just to update, that postcards will be up for sale on that day, and all sales collected will be donated to the Home. There are limited quantity of postcards, and its while stocks last... grab one set to remember a good cause...
