left and right, front and back, top and bottom, still and moving. can you find more dualities?

does not work for me.
1. the sunlit areas should be brighter
2. the dark area (top half) could do with more shadow detail
3. the flag should not have been cropped.
4. no message/story

hey varf, I see what you're trying to do but I find it abit simplistic.
it's like a slimming ad with "Before" and "After" you know? contrasting elements in a photo is a good tool to use but it's also pretty overused and is almost like hitting someone over the head with what you want to say. better to be abit more subtle to leave the viewer abit more room to think deeper into the image
I like that there's some thought in it though, keep it up!

thanks for the frank comments ortega and mattlock, got me thinking about my (lack of?) shooting style.
the original composition included the sign, motorbike and flag, but when the man walked across i adjusted the framing left to give him just a bit of "walking" space. erratic breeze made the flag's movement a bit unpredictable. unfortunate crop there.
that's streetlight by the way, not sunlight (colour version).
i was about to write this shot off as "just plain uninteresting", but now at least i know why some people find it uninteresting. thanks again for critiquing!
