Hi all.
Im new to this forum, just signed in today. I am looking for my first DSLR to buy. Is D70s considered a good choice? I am sure this qns has been asked many many times.... But guess I will still ask one more time. I have a friend whose D70 gave him so much problem that he is switching to a Canon 20D. He is even willing to give up all his nikkor lenses and flash as well. After just a few months his CCD sensor gave him problems with dead pixels (not LCD related), the images produced was soft and a lil blurry.... (this was even after running them through with photoshop). Im not too sure if the unit is one of those rare defective one out of the box or maybe just poor manufacturing. Anyone got any problem with it? I am an old time user of Nikon SLR, mainly the F80, so I am seeking opinions here. Should I go ahead with the D70s? And by the way, I read that Nikon doesn't produce any offical vertical grip for this model. I found some OEM versions, anyone currently use them with the D70s? This is one being advertised for sale in East Point. You can view it at http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=29029 This model is from Hong Kong Jenis photo-facility Co., Ltd. The company's URL is http://www.hkjenis.com/product/HOLD/DSLR/JND70.htm Is Cathay Photo a good place to buy the digicam? Ok, waiting for replies..... Thanks! |

Hmm dunno about your friend` s problem. Might be a defective set if the sensor has problems. as for the images, did he ever run his pictures through photoshop? Might be the case as the raw images are a bit soft across the board. standard with all DSLRs
The vertical grips should for D70 should work on the D70s as it doesnt modify the body. Just adds the grip and connects to the IR sensor by a fibre wire. Get an equote from Cathay`s website first to get a better pricing or head to Lords at Lucky plaza and Tk foto at Shaw Tower, beach road.

If you know it has been asked a lot of times, why not do a search and see what has been said?

for the d70s VG, you might wanna try the harbotronics one (check google) ... it offers halfpress for d70s and half press for d70 (with modification)
