Default Nikon Profit Soars

According to dpreview, "Nikon attributes its success to a shift in focus to the digital SLR market as the low end of the makret has become increasingly competitive and often non profitable."

Give ourselves a pat on the back...hope Nikon will recognise true blue Nikonians that supported them and give us better deals next time.

Maybe in your dream...

Simple maths:
Giving too many discount = Eating into their profit.

Then, Nikon won't increase their profits which will be the main aim of the company

On the contrary, Nikon is forecasting DSLR sales quantity to increase by 50% over previous quarter with sales revenue & operating profit to be also increasing. For normal digital sales camera, Nikon is estimating at 10% growth in quantity sold over previous quarter & increased operating profit despite flat sales revenue.

It is also interesting to note that Nikon mentioned that it produces out about 100,000 units of D70 DSLR every month.

More details are found at the following URL : http://www.nikon.co.jp/main/eng/port...5mid_all_e.pdf

I dunno about "being happy" that Nikon is making a profit. But at least we know they won't go bust any time soon...
