Was taking my kids for walk at Kent ridge park, and chance upon this hopper close to the stairs at about near 7pm. Found it queer looking and not the normal ones where the wings are with the body. At first I thought it was a dead hopper, but was proven wrong when it moved.
Anyone seen it before? Due to poor lighting, had to use different settings. FZ10+6T with Ext bounce flash ExposureTime : 1/60Sec FNumber : F8.0 ExposureProgram : Aperture Priority ISOSpeedRatings : 100 #1: Side view Notice the green patch at the mouth? I thought I accidently added something during post processing, but when I viewed all my shots, it all had the green patch there.....so is the mouth there???? eating the leaf???? Anyway, not too happy that my camera was not parallel to the hopper, the tail is abit OOF. ![]() #2: Front view ![]()

Exceptional detail on the side view. The hopper looks like it's wearing a copper or bronze armour.

Melvyn's right. It's a gap between the mouth of the hopper and its body. The green is the leaf beyond, thru' the gap.

very nice catch, very detailed and pin sharp
i don't like the shadows though but it is just me. tail OOF also all right with me I find that a tilted pose of the hopper gives it a more 3D look and thus more interesting

Thanks guys....this is really an old post.
Noted abt the shadows....thats why I got the off sync hotshoe for the flash so I can position the flash better....does not always eliminate shadow though...
