Got mine from B&S for $600, without warranty.
Still in good condition.
Not too sure about the price of a new one but a used one w/o warranty would probably cost about $600, or less depending on condition.

Images taken from this lens aren't that great actually.
I got it only for the VR feature, which helps in handholding as I have very shaky hands.
But I would get a Tamron SP 24-135mm.
Better in terms of contrast and colours.
Sharper as well.
Just an opinion.

don - for ur d50, i do recommend the 18-200 as its more versatile on ur cam. since u dun have any film camera, the 18-200 is excellent as a 1-lens-rules-them-all kinda setup. if u intend to get a film cam, then yeah, u have to get the VR lens cos the tamron is meant for DSLRs with the APS sensor.

i was actually considering the 18-200 from tamron and signma but then i thought there's also a 28-300 from tamron... since both are f3.5-6.3 and the 28-300 can still be use on film. wouldn't it be a better buy? Furthermore, i think 28-300 covers a very wide and useful range esp since i have a 12-24mm....

hahaah i can't stand the expression..hahahah... *ROFL*

I've been browsing the B&S and see that the 24-120 VR is selling for 7-800+ still waiting for a cheap deal to pop by.

the 18-200 is good in the sense that it covers all the range usable range but it's mostly good for day and bright shoots. night falls.. and you'll be using the wide end most of the time.

At night, you prob have less to worry since you shd be using tripod, long exposure and small aperture.. my biggest worry is undercast day... f6.3 @ 200 or 300 (depends on which lens you talking abt) is not gonna work.. That said, with digital SLR, you can bump up the ISO to 400 or 800... so shd still get a decent shot.

Must have been a deal of the year at this price....as most seems to be going at around 700 or just below....

Nikon Singapore control most of the price locally... $950 just about right , every where about the same , the most 10-20 bucks different!

Save & go hongkong and buy 3-4 lens at once & the trip there becomes worth it!
