Am interested in getting a lomo camera.
Am looking at 2 now. Mainly the Lomo LC-A $300+, or the SuperSampler $97+. I know the LC-A's lens is made in Russia which gives it's photos it's rich colours. However, I was playing around with the SuperSampler at Kinokuniya and ProjectShopBloodBrothers and realised that it's made in China. Does that mean that the SuperSampler's lens will not give the same kind of quality as the LC-A? Also, am I able to use ASA 50 (more specifically, Reala 50) on the Lomos? |

seriously, I don't know for sure who made what alreayd.
I own both the super SAM and the LC-A super surprisingly produces "sharp" picture for the a compact std, it'll work best out door, if need to, 800 ASA film. it's sharp & contrast is acceptable. while I have yet to prove the sharpness of the LC-A it's a fun cam to play with (^_^) think ya can get it cheaper buying it online. check the lomo website. or Ebay. it's BEEP expensive in singapore then. |

Thank you tucker for your comments and input.
Does anyone else have anything to say about these 2 camera's photo quality? Is the SuperSampler having the same kinda of lens as the LC-A that gives that rich vibrant colours? Can I use ASA 50 on the LC-A and the Super Sampler? |

I doubt the lens is the same for the Supersampler. Because u can't adjust aperture or shutter. It's just a snap, snap, snap camera. The 4 lenses make it able to break a normal photo into smaller 'photos' on a normal 35mm film. I don't think it even has a proper lens. But then again, it's got such simple mechanics and only one (or 4) lenses that makes it the reason why the shots come out sharp. Using the rationale that the least number of lenses produces sharper images.
But if you're looking for nice colours, and have some money to spend get the LC-A. But keep in mind, that the Lomography society IMO sells it's cameras via 'hype', so don't be too excited about it. Also don't judge the shots u take with the film that's provided in the package, go get some Kodak or Fuji. Goodness, I just re-read what I typed, and nothing made sense to me. ![]() |

![]() Get the Lomo Smena, which is practically free, compared to the LC-A. (Check ebay.) And since we're talking about toy cameras, why not get a Holga/Woca, or even a Lomo Lubitel? You'll have just as much fun with any of these cameras, and if one breaks, just get another! ![]() |
