Asking out of curiosity. Anyone added a hood to their LX100 or D-Lux?

i don't think it will look nice as the hood will have to move together with the zooming lens barrel to be effective, plus it will make the camera even less compact, and it is already considered to be big

True. Think the fact that the hood will extend with the lens already put most ppl off.

I actually tried putting on a 43mm screw on vented hood and it caused heavy vignetting, so I guess a hood is a big no no..

Has anyone tried the 11 fps? Are the images lower quality? I tried and it seems to be.

Anyone done any interesting work with it?

I wouldn't say that a hood is definitely a no no, but maybe it needs to be the right type/design? I don't recall if the front element rotates, but if you can find a petal/tulip hood (common on wide-angle lenses and wide-angle zooms), it might accommodate the widest focal length better with less/reduced vignetting.

    Hi,
I have a newbie question to ask. I am using AVCHD mode to record video. All the files are saved into the Stream directory. The issue I have is that the file number always starts with 00000.MTS . Imagine if you have 2 or more cards, and you recorded videos. you will end up with 2 or more 00000.MTS files. Is there anyway to make the counter increment just like our raw or jpg files would? Shouldn't the counter increase?
    Thank you very much,
    Akuma

Anyone using one of those half leather cases? Do you use the original leica ones (which I feel doesn't match with the black body of the D-Lux) or do you all get those Gariz ones from ebay, which a wider variety of color choices? Do they give a tight fit?

    1. Set focusing mode to tracking. (Face-detection is not so reliable if the face is some distant away.)
    2. Set to 4K Photo mode. (You may assign it to Fn3 button for convenience.)
    3. Make sure you are not in Manual Exposure mode if you prefer to use Auto ISO in your video (A, S & P modes are fine though.)
    4. Attach the camera to a selfie stick / monopod with the segments extended to desired length.
    5. Turn around the camera with the lens pointing at you around 20 - 50 cm away.
    6. Half-press the shutter release button so that the focus tracking is locked onto you.
    7. Fully press down the shutter release button so that the camera starts to record in 4K.
    8. Slowly stretch out the stick / monopod so that the focus tracking is not disrupted.
    9. Strike your poses in front of the camera as much as you like.
    10. Once done, stop the recording and proceed to extract photos from the 4K video.
how you extract ah? just screenshot from quicktime/vlc player or is there some special program for it?

You can do it in-camera. With this method the images retain EXIF (if I recall correctly).

It's as simple as pausing a video during playback.

Recall posting something about it. Found it:

Might be useful for people curious about the different features.

Here's an example of the video on the 4K PHOTO feature:

    As described in the manual:
“You can create a still picture with approximately 8 megapixel resolution from a 4K motion
picture recorded by setting [4K PHOTO]. You can create a still picture that captures a
moment, similar to high-speed burst recording.

Since the camera puts higher priority on the focus of a still picture captured from a 4K motion picture, focusing movement during motion picture recording may be noticeable.

We recommend setting [Shutter-Priority] Mode and setting the shutter speed to 1/1000 seconds or higher to minimise subject blur. To record a subject that is moving quickly, set the shutter speed to 1/2000 seconds or higher.”

Considering Rx100 MK3 and Lx100. Read a lot if good reviews on Mk3 but what makes LX100 better?

Another question, the LX100 doesn't have a build in flash. Does the package provide a flash strobe for the hotshot or have to buy separately? If so, how much?

bigger sensor on the lx100. shallower dof control possible.

a small flash unit is provided.
