I think I should start a new thread regarding this.
Just wish to know how to check if there is dust on the CCD. Anyone can share a good method? Is there a thread already started on this topic? Cannot find any. |

set f/22 and shoot a white or really light colored background.
This has been discussed before but why not again. ![]()

You mean any focal length lens will do. Just shoot at f22 at a white background (white piece of paper will do I guess).
What am I suppose to look for?

yesh. any lens will do.
if you shoot a totally white piece of paper you should b e looking out for grey spots on it. try it and you will understand.

Any grey spot in the photo will mean there is dust on the CCD, am I right?

yesh. since it is supposed to be totally white. Any spots will show up prominently. simple.
![]() 2 places where you will find dust that affects your image, lens and sensor. So if you take the picture will a lens that you have just cleaned, most likely the dust is on the sensor.

After taking the picture, load it in photoshop and select "auto level". The dust will show up clearly.

Are you referring to the same method that TMC had taught me?

Yes, take the picture as he described. To see the dust spots much more clearly, load it up using photoshop and select auto levels.

Thanks. I think someone should write an article to share this info to everyone. It will be really useful.
