Default Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 survived after a fall.

Quote:
My husband, who is 6'7", dropped my D100 with my 80-200 2.8 attached. The lense is fine but the camera is beyond repair. The camera repair shop sent it to Nikon just to be sure. But, he was pretty sure that it would not be economically feasible to fix. I can't wait 4 months for it be returned if they can fix it. I need a new body ASAP. Should I replace it with a new D100 body or should I get a D70? What are the pro/cons for shooting sports with each one?

Thank You for your help

Heard many wonderful feedbacks about this magic drainpipe and am impressed that it is resilient to such impact.

Maybe it land on body first, thus provide a good impact buffer for the lens. Learn this in my physic class.

My old Canon L lens survived 20Gs before. No doubt that have to replace some vital parts, but overall there is no damage to the optics.
