Default Nikkor AF 75-300mm 4.5-5.6

Hi,

Im considering getting this lens for my D70s and was wondering if anyone had previous experiences with it? How is the image quality like? Sharp?

Doest it produce good bokeh?

Thanks.

Eh seriously forget this glass. Get the 70-300 ED if you're really intent on getting this range.

Was thinking of getting a 2nd hand one.

Saw some reviews of the 70-300 ED and it wasnt that convincing. Kenrockwell.com recommended the 75-300 instead and i got a seller selling it for quite a good price. Definitely cheaper than the 70-300ED.

Ask AJ23, he bought it, within 1 week sold it and bought the 70-200VR instead.

70-200 VR, that is really expensive. At least 4 time the cost of 70-300.

Maybe 80-200 is a better choice.

first things first... reason espn is 'promoting' the 70-200 is becos of a simple reason... the AF-D 80-200/f2.8 ED and AF-S 80-200/f2.8 are out of production lenses. they are both replaced by the 70-200/f2.8 VR. oh sure. u can still find an odd copy or two of the AF-s lens in some smalller shops downtown. but, by and large, u'll be hard pressed to find a new one anywhere.

70-200 4 times more expensive than 80-200? hmm.. gold plated, mebbe... the new 70-200 (non-grey) sets retail for ard $3.5k+ (give or take a few hundred). a new AF-S 80-200 (IIRC) was recently purchased by some CS for ard $2.5K+? it was like the last copy in the shop. a new AF-D 80-200, some one told me once, used to retail for ard $2k+, many many moons ago?

used 70-200, based on CS prices, sells for ard $2.5++. used AF-S 80-200 ard $1.9K+ and AF-D 80-200 ard $1.2K-$1.3K. i saw at prime camera once, a AF-S 80-200 was selling for $1980.

so, unless my maths failed me, it doesn't add up to 4 times. so, pls, if u don't know, dun say.

No hard feeling, don't get so serious, everyone is having fun here, not politic.

Right, I think J3:16 is selling for $1550. That was a few months back.
