Default Honouring a bid

It irks me that individuals are asking for minimum bid, but are actually not willing to accept amount in the minimum range except if it hits a much higher figure which he is hoping for. Worse, if he entice people to bid with a closing date specified, and backing out of the sale when the highest bid do not hit his intended price. In a true auction, there is no arbitrary floor to the bid which can go up like an elavator at the whims of the auctioneer. Once a minimum is specified, as a gentle man, one should honour it.

caveat emptor.

unless the seller has specifically stated that he will transact from the minimum price, please don't assume that it would be the case. i'm guessing that the 'minimum bid' for most sellers is the lowest price at which they would be willing to entertain or consider offers for the item.

on the other hand, sellers who don't follow the very rules that they've set really piss me off. if you've asked that buyers bid publicly on your thread for transparency and fairness, then don't entertain bids via PM, and don't close your sale from a winning PM bid without giving your public bidders the chance to respond!

in online auctions, there is a starting bid which is probably equal to the "minimum" bid you mentioned. the reserve price is separate.

Too bad this is not a true auction. U may not always get what u ask for here.
My pt of view is that you're making a big fuss out of something which u don't understand in the 1st place.

Seriously, if you were referring to that case, then he has absolutely done no wrong and has conducted this auction in a fair manner.

well, guess there are more who see that its ok to ask for bids which is not likely to be accepted, so be it. Have dealt with more seller who are reasonable than these kinds who are wasting people's time, so be it, case closed as see no point letting this run any further.
