Too mush noise reduction on both of your pictures. Look like your bird had just came back from a Facial treatment.

Bro... Very nice catch. The composition is just nice for me. Colours and white balances are good too. However, too soft in my opinion. Did you apply too much Gaussian Blur?

hey bro, thats a nice catch of the male sunbird, u just into birding also? me got recommended by bro garion to AWA at avianwatchasia.org, a few CS dudes are in there also and i learn quite a lot too.....

managed to get a shot of a female one recently but not a good angle and not sure how to edit also, only learnt USM recently, how do u guys reduce noise after sharpening?

I did notice the soft spots in the image, strangly it occurs in patches
I am investigating the cause

did not use gaussian blur at all (why would i want to blur my image?)
I did however, applied smart sharpen and neat image

I will open the jpg file from the camera and check

Too much neat image/NR, looks like plastic

nope, as mentioned above unprocesses images from my camera also like that
will test lens setup this weekend
