United XI for today’s game vs Crystal Palace at Old Trafford: De Gea, Valencia, McNair, Blind, Shaw, Fellaini, Carrick, Januzaj, Rooney, Di Maria, van Persie
subs : Lindegaard, Vermijl, Blackett, Fletcher, Herrera, Mata, Wilson

Hope Dimaria will not be far wide like the last 2 games where he seems of a lesser threat...

Commentator :"And once again, United is missing the target."

Totally agree, what's the use of 75% possession if you don't bulge the net.
Pictures always should have a special story behind it or a special meaning to the photographer.

obviously that 60milpound guy has no motivation here.
the way he left RM left a very sour taste in his mouth still.
he's just waiting to get back...

you have seen his corners, right?

True.. i just read an article (forgot where so no link) that he was instructed by LVG to keep to the flanks and not roam for tactical reasons and to protect the flank. He sacrificed his own performance for the team. Not sure how true that is though.

After 11 games into the season ...
Firstly, we have slow down quite a bit we have lost our fast fluid passing game ... that we use to play under SAF ...
We lack the commanding figure at the back someone of Bruce and Pallister, Vidic and Ferdinand calibre ...

Spain to assess De Gea injury

David De Gea was forced out of Spain's final training session ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier with Belarus but is remaining with Vicente Del Bosque's squad.

The Manchester United no.1, voted Player of the Month by the club's fans for October, has sustained a dislocated finger on his right hand, according to an update from his national team.

Spain's medical department will assess the extent of the injury ahead of the Group C encounter on Saturday and Tuesday's friendly against World Cup winners Germany.

Meanwhile, in terms of European Championship action, Darren Fletcher came off the bench in the 88th minute to help Scotland retain a 1-0 lead over Republic of Ireland. Shaun Maloney's goal proved decisive although the visitors hit the bar in stoppage time.

Paddy McNair will have to wait for his senior Northern Ireland debut after being an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Romania. Paul Papp scored both goals to take Romania above Michael O'Neill's team at the top of Group F.

Van Persie nets - but Blind's injured - as Dutch win

Robin van Persie sparked the Netherlands' best performance since the World Cup when he scored first in Sunday's 6-0 home win over Latvia - but his United team-mate Daley Blind prompted concerns back in Manchester after injuring his knee.

Blind was substituted in the 20th minute of the Euro 2016 qualifier and will be assessed by United's medical staff ahead of the Arsenal match. Netherlands coach Guus Hiddink was quoted as saying: "It doesn't look good. I think it's his medial ligament. It could be a strain, but it could also be a tear." ....

Portugal win on Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both featured in the first half with Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria and Nani also on opposing sides as Portugal defeated Argentina 1-0 in an international friendly at Old Trafford.

Di Maria came close to giving the game an early goal when his shot crept narrowly wide after Messi touched the ball through to him. Messi was almost on the scoresheet himself when attempting to squeeze home from a tight angle but his shot flicked off the near post and sped across the face of goal.

There was another injury scare for the watching Louis van Gaal when Di Maria was chopped down by United colleague Nani, who is on loan at Sporting Lisbon. The Reds fans in the crowd held their breath as the record signing received lengthy treatment but he was able to continue.

Javier Pastore's header was kept out by Portugal goalkeeper Beto while Ronaldo almost gave the fans the moment they craved, twisting and turning to fashion a left-foot shot that whistled over the bar. Messi had another attempt, firing a free-kick over, but both men were withdrawn at the break, much to everybody's disappointment.

At least Di Maria stayed on for another 15 minutes to provide width to the South Americans' attack and his final involvement was to offer a dipping drive that was too hot for Naheul Guzman to hold but the keeper gathered comfortably at the second attempt.

Nani took over the captaincy of Portugal and showed flashes of skill but, aside from jeering Carlos Tevez on his arrival, the spectators indulged in a prolonged Mexican wave as the action on the pitch become almost secondary midway through the second period.

The match petered out long before the end as the two much-changed sides were unable to create any noteworthy chances until there was a sting in the tail provided by the Portuguese with the match a minute into stoppage time.

The ball broke kindly off Eder towards Ricardo Quaresma on the right flank and he supplied the perfect centre for fellow substitute Raphael Guerreiro to dive and head in the winner.

It rewarded the fans who had an opportunity to witness some of the stars of the world game parading their talents at the Theatre of Dreams with a decent crowd estimated to be in excess of 40,000 turning up for the occasion.

After the game, Argentina coach Gerardo Martino confirmed Di Maria would be "evaluated" and added: "We don't think it was anything serious but it was quite a tough blow."

Van Gaal's injury concerns for Arsenal test

Louis van Gaal could face a major selection headache for Saturday’s trip to Arsenal, with no fewer than 12 Manchester United players potentially battling injuries after the international break.

David De Gea is a doubt to face the Gunners after dislocating his finger while training with Spain ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Belarus. The Spaniard was not sent back to the Aon Training Complex for treatment, however, which could be a positive sign for Reds supporters.

Meanwhile, the manager will definitely be without summer signing Marcos Rojo at the Emirates Stadium after he dislocated his shoulder in the Manchester derby. There are question marks over Rafael, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans, while Luke Shaw could miss out after taking a knock in England’s 3-1 win over Scotland.

Midfield enforcer Daley Blind will watch from the stands after suffering what looked like a serious knee injury in Holland’s 6-0 win over Latvia and Michael Carrick is struggling for fitness after leaving the England camp with a groin problem. There were also concerns over Angel Di Maria after he took a kick to the ankle from Nani during Argentina’s 1-0 defeat to Portugal at Old Trafford, while long-term absentees Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard are both still on the treatment table.

Van Gaal has fewer problems up front with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and James Wilson all passing through the break unscathed. Radamel Falcao is the only doubt, though the Colombian is reportedly closing in on a return to action following a three-match absence with a calf injury.

The manager will provide a definitive update on all of United’s injuries during his pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Friday.

    Casualties list

Injury list good enough to play 4-5-1:

    Goalkeepers: De Gea

Defenders: Rojo, Rafael, Jones, Evans, Shaw

Midfielders: Blind, Carrick, Di Maria, Young, Lingard

    Strikers: Falcao

    Yesterday's press conference.

Boss provides injury update for Arsenal test

Louis van Gaal has delivered mixed news for Manchester United fans around the world by suggesting Angel Di Maria, David De Gea and Michael Carrick will be fit to face Arsenal on Saturday, while also hinting that Daley Blind could be side-lined with a serious knee injury sustained in the international break.

Here we go, this game we need to win and win convincingly. With or without injuries, LVG must show his experience in tackling Arsenal away and no more excuses if we go down, we better go down fighting. If not, LVG must shoulder all the responsibilities. His tactics will surely be questioned and be in doubt his manager ability overall. We shall see at the end of the game. Hope we don't park the bus and hoping for a draw at the end of the day as we are already in deep deep problems.
