Default Anyone tried Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG?

This is a lightweight f2.8 zoom like the Tamron 28-75/2.8 XR Di but a bit cheaper. Didn't hear much abt it though. Anyone has first hand experience with it?

I have the 24-70mm version. As sharp as you can get to L lens quality but at 25% of the cost

I was choosing between the 24-70 and 28-70, since I needed the extra wide end, I ended up with mine now.

However, in 'technical' tests, the 28-70 performed better. Got very good 'ratings' in tests.

However, as with all EX lenses....color is on the warm side.

Interesting, I too was looking out for this lens, but I heard of complains on Sigma's copy wide open(2.8) being not too sharp....... Can post some pic to share how is it wide open?

Wat is the difference between sigma's 24-70 f2.8 and 24-60 f2.8?

I'm thinking of getting either one of those. But since there is no HSM on both lenses, is AF speed a concern?

i believe HSM helps the lenses to focus faster, and quieter too. very useful if u have to shoot events. can't distract the audience by ur lens zooming, rite?

24-70/2.8 review.

How about the AF performance without HSM on these lenses?

The compact 28-70 is using 67mm filters. the 24-70 is probably the one using 82mm.

can't say for these 2 lenses cos i never used them b4. however, i did try my fren's old sigma 300/f4 b4. its a tad slow on my ex-10D (takes a little longer than i like to lock on. then again, my subject was not exactly moving...), not to mention a little noisy from the lens motor. not a big problem cos i was using it at a POP parade. might be an issue (for non-HSM lenses) if u are an event shooter.

i believe the current generation of sigma lenses all come with HSM?
