Default Tioman Macros

Was at Tioman for the last 4 days for a short break with my family. Was taking some sunsets and while trying to frame a small bush in the fore ground, I happen to notice this colony of bugs....I think they are Plant Bugs, but please correct me if I am wrong.

And it was lots of them. I manage to visit them every day to take some pics, and I even saw one laying eggs, and also one fella guarding the eggs, and on the 3rd day, it hatched!

Will post some here. Taken with FZ10 and Nikon 6T or Sigma CU or both. Ext flash. F/8, various shutter speed.

#1: Introducing...the BUG (rained on the 2nd morning, hence the droplets)

#2:In formation

#3:Laying eggs in a pattern....

#4: Close up of laying

Not sure how long it took. The laying eggs shot was another fella from the guarding one. The guarding shot was there the day I arrrived, not sure how long it was already there. The laying shot appeared on the 3rd day.

I did a net search of bugs ID and tried to look for similarities, and the closest is the plant bug. The stink bug or shield bug looks abit different. Some say it looks like a Boxelder Bug???

Hello tchuanye,

what is sigma CU? may I ask you what do u mean by reverse lense? I know some SLR lense like 50mm one and u can reverse it and take macro shot..but how can a FZ10 do it? the lense can't be removed, right?

Anyway, it is really amazing to see all these rare photos.

You can see my equipment set up at my signature. I add the reverse lens ON to the camera lens using a reverse ring. Sigma CU is a sigma close up lens(Similar to Nikon 5T), its 58mm thread and +1.6 dioptre.

ok, i think i got the answer in your signature link. So there is how the reverse len is attached. By the way, insects won't get scared away by flash?
