Default CF Err on 20D

Hey guys, i'm new to the 20D and recently i've been getting this CF Err message 1/2way through my shoots. Its really irritating cos i need to pop open the CF bay door and snap it back again for it to work. My question is whether its a CF card problem (most of my CF are at least 2yrs old now) or is it a cam problem? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried other cards? It maybe the card. If it is a Lexar. Better get it changed.

i have tried a full format on all my cards. Happens to both my 1gb cards. Hagiwara and PQI. All my cards are from years ago so that may be it. Both cards function perfectly on a 1d/1dmk2

have u tried shooting with 1D or 1D MKII with your cards from fresh until it is full??

my friend got a Sandisk Ultra and it also have CF Err when he use with his 20D, suspect it is CF card problem, i use his card on my 1D and also got no problem for the first half of the card.. only when i shoot somemore until i almost fill up the card then the problem appear.

these 2 are my working cards in the uk and i shoot them till full all the time. I usually keep a few 512 as backups over there but the 1gb ones are my regular use ones. I've never heard of CFs dying from overuse, microdrives yes, but CFs never. Just wondering if i should bother investing in new CFs is all.... they take a big hit in depreciation and are one of those things i'd rather not buy but will buy if i have to.

Yeah.. But even flash memory have limited number of erase cycles.. It can be anywhere between 100,000 to 10,000,000 cycles depending on your luck..
