This is my second time shooting wide angle at Sipadan. Normally, the schooling bumphead and jacks are near the reeftop..where there are ample ambient light.. You have to move quite back if you want to frame and light up the school unless you have the fisheye (Dylan has one but he didnt manage to lend me tat time) Strobe power tend to be on a higher side..These can be tricky when balancing against the sand or/and ambient light... While schooling fishes can be properly exposed, the sand and sky tend to be over-exposed.. Just sharing my experience shooting wide at Sipadan. Hope these help. Will be heading back there in Sept again to re-shoot the school jacks, Baracuda and Bumphead.. |

I like the first photo. Does the dual Z220 strobes make a difference in lighting up subject and balancing exposure when they are at that distance?
The strobes do light up the bumpheads in the second photo nicely. I must practice how to do judge the amount of light. It is much easier to adjust the light output in Z220s than the ES150. I always have overexposure with ES150 when I only turn the knob slightly to give more light. |
